It rained literally all day today. Like ALL DAY. Did not let up at all. The streets were flooded a bit and the river that flows near the town sounded like a dogpile of raging rapids. My original plan was to explore the coastal town of Palomino, also known for its beaches and city life. But alas, things must sometimes go astray. It was nice to have the day to chill, without a set goal in mind and without a real place I needed to be. I finished the book I was reading and thankfully brought the second book in the series with me. Haven’t finished a book cover to cover in like 9 years. Sorry to any old professors or teachers reading this.
Today’s post will be short. Not many pictures either. I did meet my poison dart frog friend again. This is the third time i’ve seen him roaming around. Today he was chilling on the wall when I first saw him . I must have just sat and watched him for 30 minutes slowly climb around and get closer to me. When he sat in the grooves of the tile, it was actually hard to see him even though I had watched him the entire time.
The meal in the featured image was comforting. It was rainy and wet, so I went to a restaurant and sat on their patio overlooking the forest and raging river. Their recommended dish was a batter-fried chicken with rice, beans, plantain, salad, and a soup that hit as hard as pho on a winter day in Boulder.
As I was packing up my stuff, the power went out. No lights, no connection, all gone. It stayed out for about 30 minutes before I decided to just get dinner at Wilson’s and say bye. As I was walking, it was clear that the entire area was blacked out, causing a sort of eerie feel especially with the rain. At that moment, it was clear to me how far away from any urban area I am. Very little light pollution anywhere. It was good to say bye to Wilson and his family. After many meals and conversations, I feel like I know him decently well. He told me about many cool beaches, waterfalls, and caves in his home country, Venezuela. After the country settles the unrest, it’s time to travel there next. “Adios mi hermano” Wilson told me as I ran back to the hostel. I finished packing with my phone light until just when I was done when miraculously the lights flickered on. Thanks for that.
Omg the only thing I could think about while reading this was WILLLSOOOONN… get it pops?
